Morocco's National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has announced the implementation of a new unified model for vehicle license plates. This change aims to harmonize the shape and dimensions of plates used both domestically and internationally, addressing difficulties encountered by motorists during cross-border travel.

The new registration format will include Latin character equivalents for Arabic letters to facilitate easier identification of Moroccan vehicles abroad. This unified model applies immediately to all new vehicle registrations and imports, whether new or used.

Existing plates will not need immediate replacement in all cases. For standard series vehicles without Latin characters, the current plates remain valid until the first transfer of ownership. For vehicles intended for international travel that feature Latin characters and a separate "MA" sign, a transition period is in effect until December 31, 2026. Additionally, regulations for motorcycles and light quadricycles are set to enter into force on January 1, 2027.
