Morocco accelerates infrastructure projects for 2030 World Cup

Morocco is undertaking extensive infrastructure upgrades to prepare for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. In Marrakech, the Grand Stadium is undergoing a major renovation, with a contract worth approximately 1.26 billion dirhams awarded to Lamalif Group. This project focuses on modernizing electrical installations, digital networks, security systems, and audiovisual equipment over an 18-month period.

Transportation sectors are also seeing significant investment. Airports of Morocco has launched a roadmap to align its airport network with FIFA standards, focusing on passenger flow and security. Additionally, a major project for a new terminal at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport is estimated to cost 15 billion dirhams, aiming to accommodate up to 30 million passengers annually. In Tangier, plans are advancing for a new regional express rail network (RER) to connect the city to the airport and the Grand Stadium.
