Morocco advances to World Cup 2026 round of 16 after 4-2 win over Haiti

Morocco secured a place in the World Cup 2026 round of 16 by defeating Haiti 4-2 in their group match. An early own‑goal by Yassine Bounou gave Haiti the lead, but Achraf Hakimi equalised before halftime and Ismael Saibari restored parity. In the second half, Soufiane Rahimi scored the decisive third goal, and a late defensive error allowed Gessime Yassine to complete the 4‑2 result. The victory placed Morocco second in their group with seven points, matching Brazil on points but missing out on the top spot on goal difference.

The tournament’s knockout stage draw is now set, with hosts Canada meeting South Africa, the United States facing Bosnia‑Herzegovina, and other fixtures such as the Netherlands versus Morocco, France against Norway, and Germany awaiting their opponents. The round of 16 matches will be contested across venues in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
