Morocco and India aim to double $4 billion trade relationship
Morocco and India are working to double their bilateral trade, which reached approximately $4 billion during the 2025-2026 period. During the seventh Morocco-India Joint Commission held in Rabat, officials discussed expanding economic cooperation across several key sectors, including automotive products, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, and artificial intelligence.
Morocco currently maintains a trade surplus with India, largely driven by massive Indian imports of phosphates and derivatives used in agriculture. To sustain this momentum, the two nations have agreed to establish a joint working group to address tariff and non-tariff barriers and to explore the feasibility of a preferential trade agreement.
Key initiatives from the summit include enhancing market access through more predictable regulatory approvals and transparent standards. Additionally, Moroccan participation in the upcoming Partnership Summit 2026 in Visakhapatnam was highlighted as a step toward deeper industrial and digital connectivity.
