Morocco and Senegal coordinate voluntary repatriation of migrants
Moroccan and Senegalese authorities are conducting a series of voluntary repatriations of Senegalese migrants. These individuals were rescued or intercepted at sea by the Royal Moroccan Navy.
Following an initial convoy of 120 migrants, a second group of 38 Senegalese nationals departed Morocco on Wednesday, September 9. The migrants are traveling by land through Mauritania to reach the Senegalese border town of Rosso.
The Consulate General of Senegal in Dakhla is coordinating with Moroccan diplomatic authorities to facilitate these returns. Additional Senegalese nationals remain in migrant reception centers in Bir-Guindouz and Argoub, with officials working to arrange their repatriation as well.
