Morocco and Senegal pledge to expand bilateral cooperation

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Senegalese Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs Cheikh Niang met in Luanda on the sidelines of the 26th extraordinary session of the African Union Executive Council to strengthen bilateral ties.

The officials described the relationship between Morocco and Senegal as “unique” within the African continent, characterized by deep-rooted friendship and continuous cooperation. Discussions focused on a roadmap to activate bilateral cooperation mechanisms and expand partnerships into sectors such as digitalization, agriculture, and higher education.

Both nations also emphasized the importance of coordination regarding regional issues, specifically concerning the Sahel and the Atlantic African region, as well as broader multilateral matters affecting the continent. The leaders expressed a shared commitment to advancing the strategic agenda set by King Mohammed VI and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
