Morocco and United States launch joint African Multidomain Training Center in Tan‑Tan

Morocco and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding in Stuttgart to establish the African Centre for Training and Multidomain Experimentation (AMTEC) in Tan‑Tan, Morocco. The centre will feature a multidomain training area, a drone academy for African operators, and an innovation and experimentation hub for rapid testing of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and autonomous systems.

Designed to become a regional hub for military education, exercises and technology development, AMTEC will serve Moroccan and U.S. forces and be open to partner African armies. The project aligns with the defense roadmap agreed in April 2024, covering cooperation through 2036, and aims to boost interoperability, counter‑terrorism capabilities in West Africa, and defence‑industrial collaboration with academic and industrial partners. The first operational demonstration is planned for the African Lion 2027 exercise.
