Morocco arrests Spanish drug kingpin ‘El Moreno’
Moroccan security forces have arrested Juan Carlos T. B., an individual known as ‘El Moreno,’ who is identified by Spanish authorities as a major hashish kingpin. After months of evading law enforcement, he was apprehended in Morocco while allegedly hiding from Spanish authorities.
The arrest is part of a massive investigation into an organized crime network involved in the large-scale trafficking of hashish from Morocco into Spain and across Europe. Spanish police reports indicate the network controlled significant portions of the hashish market. The investigation has led to the arrest of approximately 35 individuals and the seizure of over 10.8 tons of hashish, along with quantities of marijuana.
Authorities are also investigating extensive money laundering operations. The criminal network reportedly used shell companies, fake employment contracts, and fraudulent invoices to disguise proceeds from drug sales. The investigation has also uncovered links to high-profile cases involving the laundering of illicit funds through legitimate businesses and real estate acquisitions.
