Morocco dominates 62.9% of the UK raspberry market

Morocco has secured a dominant position in the United Kingdom's raspberry market, capturing 62.9% of the country's total raspberry imports during the 2025/26 season. According to reports from EastFruit, Morocco exported approximately 18,400 tons of fresh raspberries to the UK, generating revenue exceeding £132.7 million. This represents a 1.6% increase from the previous year, marking five consecutive years of growth for Moroccan supplies.

This expansion is particularly notable as total UK raspberry imports declined during the same period. Since the 2020/21 season, Morocco's market share has risen from 21.3% to nearly 63%, effectively outperforming other major suppliers such as Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, and South Africa.

Industry analysts attribute Morocco's success to strategic timing and logistics. Moroccan producers are able to fill supply gaps when European and British production slows down, utilizing favorable climatic conditions and efficient transit to maintain product freshness. The broader UK soft fruit market remains a significant sector, with total market value surpassing £2 billion in early 2025.
