Morocco climbs to 22nd place in global tourism rankings for 2025
The United Nations World Tourism Organization’s latest Barometer shows Morocco moved to 22nd position worldwide for international tourist arrivals in 2025, welcoming 19.8 million visitors. The rise represents a three‑place jump in one year and a twelve‑place improvement since 2019, when the kingdom was 34th.
Tourism revenues also advanced, lifting Morocco from 32nd to 31st place with earnings of about US $14.8 billion. The growth reflects the government’s 2023 tourism roadmap, which focused on expanding air connectivity, upgrading tourist offers, increasing accommodation capacity and enhancing human‑capital skills. In the first quarter of 2026, arrivals grew roughly 7 %, more than three times the global average of 2 %.
Tourism Minister Fatim‑Zahra Ammor credited the progress to the vision of King Mohammed VI and pledged continued effort to cement Morocco’s status among the world’s leading destinations by 2030.
