Morocco coach explains Ghana friendly and Bentaleb's Germany choice

Morocco national team coach Mohamed Wahbi has revealed details regarding the team’s upcoming friendly match against Ghana, scheduled for October 4 at the Grand Stade in Tangier. Wahbi explained that negotiations were held with Argentina to organize a friendly match, but an agreement could not be reached. A primary obstacle was Argentina's preference to host the match on their own soil, whereas logistical constraints made traveling to Argentina difficult for Morocco following their scheduled matches against Gabon and Lesotho.

Wahbi noted that options were limited because European teams were committed to the Nations League, and many South American teams were unwilling to travel to Europe or Africa during that period. Ghana was ultimately selected as they met the technical criteria of being a World Cup participant with sufficient international experience.

Additionally, Wahbi addressed the decision of player Younes Bentaleb to represent the German national team. He stated that the Moroccan technical staff had been monitoring Bentaleb for approximately three years. While Wahbi had encouraged the player to consider the Moroccan national project, he emphasized that the final decision rests with the individual and that the federation does not use pressure to influence such choices.
