Morocco consumer associations submit ten-point memorandum to government

The National Federation of Consumer Associations in Morocco has submitted a ten-point memorandum to the incoming government, prioritizing the protection of consumer purchasing power and market regulation.

Key proposals include the establishment of a national price observatory to monitor essential goods and services, analyze regional price disparities, and serve as an early warning system for market imbalances. The federation is calling for increased transparency in the fuel sector, specifically requesting the disclosure of import costs, storage expenses, distribution costs, and profit margins to help the public understand price fluctuations.

The memorandum also advocates for stronger enforcement of consumer protection laws, enhanced oversight of vital sectors such as health, education, transport, and telecommunications, and more aggressive measures to combat monopolies and speculation. Additionally, the federation seeks to improve consumer protection in the digital economy and ensure that public policies are proactive rather than merely reactive to market crises.
