Morocco expands digital infrastructure and online mobility for tourists and remote workers
Morocco is positioning itself as a leading destination for tourists and digital nomads. The country welcomed 17.4 million visitors in 2024, with the tourism sector contributing about 7 % of GDP. Internet subscriptions reached 40.22 million by the end of 2024 and the nation entered the 5G era in November 2025, offering strong mobile data across major cities such as Marrakech, Agadir and Taghazout. While a dedicated digital‑nomad visa is not yet available, most passport holders can stay visa‑free for up to 90 days and can apply for an eVisa where required, supporting short‑term remote‑work stays.
At the same time, the market for motorbike and scooter rentals is shifting online. Platforms such as Motonita now let travelers and residents compare prices, check availability and book two‑wheel vehicles in cities including Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat and Tangier. This digital marketplace aims to make short‑term mobility more transparent and convenient, catering to the growing demand from tourists who seek flexible, affordable transport around historic medinas and coastal attractions.
