Morocco expands industrial capacity in aerospace and battery sectors

Morocco is expanding its industrial footprint through new investments in the aerospace and electric vehicle sectors.

Volkswagen Group, its subsidiary PowerCo, and Gotion High-tech have entered a partnership to establish three joint ventures across Morocco, Spain, and Slovakia. The facility in Kenitra, Morocco, will focus on producing active cathode materials for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. This site is part of a strategic effort to regionalize the supply chain and diversify sources for battery components.

In the aerospace sector, APS Coating Solutions has announced the creation of a subsidiary in Morocco. The company plans to offer integrated surface treatments, including dry and wet processes, as well as non-destructive testing and rectification for aeronautical parts. The new site is scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2028, with a focus on meeting industry quality standards and environmental goals, such as zero liquid discharge.
