Morocco expands strategic ties with U.S. in investment and defense

Morocco is strengthening its strategic partnership with the United States through both economic and defense initiatives. To attract more American investment, Morocco is utilizing Florida as a strategic gateway, aiming to expand industrial, technological, and energy projects. This effort leverages the existing free trade agreement and institutional ties between regions like Miami-Dade and Casablanca-Settat. Rabat seeks to attract companies in high-value sectors, including automotive, aeronautics, renewable energy, and biotechnology, to serve markets in Africa and Europe.

In the defense sector, Morocco and the U.S. are elevating military cooperation to enhance stability in Africa. A key development is the African Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center (AMTEC) located in the Tan Tan region. Recent live-fire demonstrations conducted by the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces and U.S. Africa Command (Africom) have tested long-range precision strike capabilities. The goal is to establish AMTEC as a regional hub for innovation, strategic cooperation, and industrial development, making advanced military technologies more accessible for regional security.
