Morocco: Families await decision on disability education support

The Moroccan Observatory for Inclusive Education has issued an urgent appeal to the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports to finalize and sign the support program for children with disabilities. The Observatory warns that the delay in approving the program threatens the school enrollment process for thousands of students as the new academic year approaches.

Approximately 30,000 families are currently in a state of uncertainty due to the lack of official confirmation regarding the support arrangements. The delay also impacts an estimated 10,000 social and educational workers whose roles are tied to providing support and accompaniment services for these children.

While various sectors and institutions have reportedly engaged positively with the program, the final administrative approval remains pending. The Observatory emphasized that timely implementation is essential to protect the rights of children with disabilities to inclusive education and to allow families and associations sufficient time for necessary preparations.
