Morocco football highlighted by Hervé Renard amid U17 qualifiers
Hervé Renard, the current coach of the Ivory Coast national team and former manager of Morocco, has identified Morocco as the premier African football nation on the global stage. Speaking on the program ‘African Talents’, Renard highlighted Morocco’s recent successes, including reaching the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, as evidence of a superior organizational system and infrastructure that serves as a model for other African nations.
In youth development, the Moroccan U17 national team is set to begin its North African Football Federation qualifying campaign for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations. Following a recent draw, the ‘Atlas Lions’ will face Algeria in their opening match in Monastir, Tunisia. The group stage schedule also includes matches against Egypt and Tunisia, followed by a fixture against Libya. This tournament marks the first official competitive test for coach Ahmed El Kantari, who took over the position in August.
