Morocco announces 2027 AFCON qualifying schedule
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has announced the schedule for the Morocco national team’s opening matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Morocco will host Gabon on September 25, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM GMT and will be officiated by South African referee Apongile Tom.
In the second round of qualifiers, Morocco will travel to face Lesotho on September 29, 2026. Due to Lesotho lacking a stadium that meets international standards, the match will be held at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The game is scheduled for 1:00 PM GMT and will be officiated by Cameroonian referee Abdu Abdil Mufir.
These matches mark the Atlas Lions' return to international competition following their performance in the 2026 World Cup. Morocco is placed in Group A alongside Gabon, Lesotho, and Niger.
