Morocco government formation enters decisive phase of political consultations
Political consultations to form the next Moroccan government have entered a decisive phase following recent legislative elections. Fatima Zahra Mansouri, the appointed head of government tasked with forming the cabinet, is leading discussions to define the composition of the upcoming parliamentary majority.
Several political parties are currently determining their positions. The Mouvement Populaire (MP) has delegated its Secretary-General, Mohamed Ouzzine, to continue negotiations, emphasizing that participation depends on the government program's ability to address party commitments. Similarly, the Constitutional Union Party has authorized Secretary-General Mohamed Jouddar to lead negotiations, focusing on priorities such as purchasing power, employment, and social welfare.
Internal discussions within the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) suggest a potential shift in alliances. Sources within the party indicate a movement toward building a new majority that excludes the National Rally of Independents (RNI). While no official position has been declared regarding the RNI moving to the opposition, the current parliamentary landscape allows for multiple scenarios in forming a cohesive and harmonious governing majority.
