Morocco health ministry urges vaccine completion amid diphtheria concerns
The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection has urged families to ensure their children complete all doses required by the national immunization schedule. This follows concerns regarding the return of diphtheria, including a confirmed case in the Souss-Massa region in late September.
While there have been reports of supply shortages for certain vaccines containing diphtheria components within the private sector, health authorities emphasize that vaccines remain widely available and free of charge through the public health system. The Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products noted that approximately 90 percent of vaccinations in the country are conducted via public facilities, which maintain sufficient stocks.
Authorities are working to release additional batches to the private sector to meet increased demand and are monitoring the situation to prevent further spread of preventable diseases.
