Morocco honored as guest of honor at Portugal gastronomy congress
Morocco participated as the guest of honor at the 22nd Gastronomy Congress held near Lisbon, Portugal, on September 27 and 28. The event, which brought together over 80 industry professionals, focused on the theme of “the sea.”
Supported by the Moroccan Embassy in Portugal and the Moroccan National Tourism Office, the participation aimed to showcase the country's culinary heritage, hospitality traditions, and maritime resources. A specific emphasis was placed on the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region to highlight its tourism potential and seafood wealth.
Moroccan Ambassador to Portugal, Othmane Bahnini, noted that the shared history and products of both nations' cuisines serve as a bridge for political, economic, and cultural rapprochement. Additionally, Chef Lahcen Hafid, president of the “Disciples Escoffier” association in Morocco, conducted masterclasses to introduce lesser-known Moroccan recipes to international audiences.
