Morocco implements strict measures for 2026-2027 school year start

Morocco's Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has announced strict measures to ensure the effective start of the 2026-2027 academic year on September 7, 2026. The ministry has issued directives to regional and provincial directorates to monitor student attendance and the availability of textbooks and school supplies.

To prevent school dropouts, educational institutions are required to record daily absences starting from the first day of classes and report this data through official information systems. The ministry emphasized that school access must not be contingent upon the payment of fees, ensuring equal opportunities for all students regardless of their financial or administrative status.

In addition to attendance monitoring, the ministry is conducting field visits to bookstores and points of sale to ensure sufficient supplies are available. Weekly meetings will be held at the provincial level to evaluate the availability of materials and implement corrective actions if shortages are identified. The plan also includes coordinating with regional academies, local authorities, and parents' associations to ensure a smooth transition into the new school year.
