Morocco issues high-level forest fire warnings for multiple provinces

The National Agency for Water and Forests has issued a high-level warning regarding the risk of forest fires across several Moroccan provinces. The alert, which utilizes predictive maps and scientific, climatic, and topographical data, covers the period from September 11 to September 15, 2026.

Six provinces have been placed under a maximum red alert due to extreme danger: Fahs Anjra, Tangier-Assilah, Taounate, Taza, Essaouira, and Taroudant. Additionally, 24 provinces, including Larache, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Rabat, Salé, and Agadir, have been classified under a high orange alert level.

Authorities are urging residents living near forested areas, forest workers, and visitors to exercise extreme caution and avoid any activities that could trigger a fire. The agency emphasized the importance of immediately reporting any smoke or suspicious behavior to local authorities to ensure early intervention.
