Morocco labels 4,108 schools with Pioneer Institution status
The Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Vocational Training has announced that 4,108 public educational institutions have received the “Pioneer Institution” (Écoles Pionnières) label for the 2026 edition. This total includes 3,598 primary schools and 510 middle schools that have met the required standards.
The labeling process follows deliberations by a central committee and is part of the 2022–2026 roadmap for educational reform. The initiative aims to improve basic learning outcomes, enhance extracurricular and sports activities, reduce school dropout rates, and improve learning environments.
For institutions that did not meet the criteria this cycle, the Ministry has scheduled field research to provide necessary support and ensure they can meet the standards in the future. This move is intended to promote equity and equal opportunity within the public school system.
