Morocco opens 15 new primary healthcare facilities

The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection has inaugurated 15 new primary healthcare facilities across six regions: Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Marrakech-Safi, the Oriental, Casablanca-Settat, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma, and Guelmim-Oued Noun.

These facilities, which have undergone rehabilitation and equipping, are part of a national program to modernize 1,600 primary healthcare institutions, with a goal of completing 500 by 2026. The initiative follows royal directives to reform the national health system and improve access to essential services.

The new centers are expected to serve approximately 375,000 residents. Services provided will include general medical consultations, nursing care, chronic disease management (such as diabetes and hypertension), maternal and child health, and preventive awareness activities. Specific regional updates include five new facilities in Chichaoua, four in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, and specialized diagnostic services for tuberculosis and respiratory diseases in Guelmim-Oued Noun.
