Morocco launches national inspection program for private security guards

In Rabat, Morocco, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, launched a national inspection program for private security guards under the slogan ‘For Decent Work’. The initiative aims to enforce labor legislation and improve working conditions within the sector.

A primary focus of the program is ensuring compliance with the newly amended Article 193 of the Labor Code, which regulates working hours. The program is structured around three main pillars: field monitoring through inspections to verify working hours and reported data, training and awareness to educate employers and employees on the new legal requirements, and a preventive approach designed to correct practices and foster a culture of legal compliance.

Minister Sekkouri emphasized that the private security sector faces unique challenges due to the nature of the work, which often involves shift work, night shifts, and continuous guarding. The program seeks to ensure that the specific legal provisions regarding working hours are effectively applied in these companies.
