Morocco leads Spanish fruit and vegetable imports with 950 million euros

Morocco has solidified its position as Spain’s leading non-EU supplier of fruits and vegetables. According to data from the Spanish Federation of Associations of Fruit, Vegetable, Flower, and Live Plant Producers and Exporters (FEPEX), Moroccan exports to Spain reached approximately 950 million euros during the first half of 2026, marking a 6% increase compared to the same period last year.

While the value of Moroccan exports rose, the total volume reached 351,118 tons, representing a 7% decrease from the previous year. Overall, Spain’s fruit and vegetable imports for the first six months totaled roughly 3.086 billion euros, with a volume of 2.5 million tons.

Data indicates a significant shift in Spain's supply chain, with non-EU countries accounting for 72% of the total value of imports, despite representing only 54% of the total volume. Following Morocco, other major non-EU suppliers included Peru (289 million euros), Costa Rica (182 million euros), and Brazil (121 million euros). Within the European Union, France remained the top supplier, providing 657,918 tons valued at 211.5 million euros.
