Morocco national team coach expresses World Cup ambitions

Morocco national team coach Mohamed Wahbi stated that the ‘Atlas Lions’ possess the necessary qualifications to compete for the World Cup title. Speaking at a CAF strategy conference in Cape Verde, Wahbi noted that performance statistics reflect the ongoing development of Moroccan football and increasing international interest in the team.

Wahbi highlighted tactical strengths identified in recent data, including high pressing, ball possession, counter-attacks, and defensive set-piece performance. He emphasized that the team's progress is a source of pride and underscores Morocco's growing status in global football.

Despite these ambitions, the team faces challenges regarding clinical finishing in the final third. Recent performances, such as a 1–1 draw against Mali, have highlighted a struggle to convert offensive dominance into goals. The coaching staff faces the task of addressing the lack of a consistent high-level striker and improving overall execution and decision-making within the penalty area to ensure efficiency in upcoming official competitions.
