Morocco plans massive 115,000‑seat stadium for 2030 World Cup

Morocco has announced plans to build a 115,000‑seat arena, the Stade Hassan II, in the El Mansouria area north of Casablanca. The project, set to cover about 100 hectares, will feature 32 monumental entrances, hanging gardens, extensive public spaces and 12,000 VIP seats, aiming to become a global football landmark as the country co‑hosts the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, with additional matches slated for Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

At the same time, a Moroccan observatory reported that AI‑generated fake news and disinformation surged around Morocco’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, spreading manipulated images and videos that threatened the nation’s image. The report highlighted polarized online debates involving Moroccan, Algerian and Egyptian users and recommended measures such as a permanent media monitoring platform, early‑warning systems and media‑literacy programs to counter such digital threats.
