Morocco private preschool sector faces rising costs and lack of regulation

In Morocco, the private early childhood education sector is experiencing rapid growth, characterized by high costs and a lack of regulation. While the Ministry of National Education promotes the importance of preschool education for children starting at age four, private nurseries are operating with significant price variations and additional fees.

In upscale areas of Casablanca, registration fees can range from 4,500 to 6,000 DH. Monthly tuition varies from 2,500 DH for standard nurseries to as much as 6,000 DH for premium structures. Parents also face various ancillary costs, including meal fees (750 to 800 DH per month), logistics or reheating fees, and extended care charges for supervision after 4:30 PM. Some highly sought-after facilities also demand entry fees between 1,500 and 4,000 DH upon enrollment, which critics suggest do not correspond to specific services provided.
