Morocco raises 2.25 billion euros in international bond issuance
Morocco has successfully raised 2.25 billion euros on the international financial market through a two-tranche bond issuance. Led by Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, the operation was structured with maturities of eight and twelve years. The first tranche, totaling 1.25 billion euros, carries a yield of 4.842%, while the second tranche of 1 billion euros offers a yield of 5.289%.
The issuance saw significant investor interest, with an order book reaching 5.2 billion euros, more than double the amount raised. This high demand and geographical diversification of investors underscore the attractiveness of Morocco's financial signature. The transaction was also notably executed using an “Intraday” mode, completing the entire operation within a single day.
Separately, recent data from the central bank indicates a slight recovery in the Moroccan financial landscape. The global debit rate rose by fifteen basis points to 4.81% in the second quarter. However, interest rates remain varied depending on the sector: short-term treasury loans and investment credits are at 4.63% and 4.65% respectively, while real estate loans exceed 5% and consumer credit averages 6.81%.
