Morocco records 3.5 million arrivals from abroad

Morocco has recorded 3,539,761 arrivals of Moroccans from abroad, with over 51 percent of travelers arriving by ship. As the summer holiday season concludes, travel patterns are shifting toward departures from Morocco back to residents' home countries.

The Port of Tanger Med plays a critical role in this movement, particularly for travelers heading to Spain via Algeciras and onward into Europe. To manage congestion and prevent bottlenecks, authorities have implemented a temporary reception system for motorists and bus passengers along routes leading to the port.

This system, active since August 18 and expected to continue until September 6, allows travelers to verify tickets and register before reaching the port. Approximately 4,000 passengers traveling by tour bus have already been assisted through this measure. The use of automatic license plate recognition and designated waiting areas has helped facilitate smoother traffic flow and reduced waiting times for passport and customs controls.
