Morocco registers three historical sites with ALECSO
Three Moroccan historical and architectural sites have been officially registered with the Arab Observatory for Architectural and Urban Heritage. The sites include Ksar El Fida near Rissani, and the ancient cities of Chefchaouen and Abu al-Jad.
The registration took place during the eleventh meeting of the observatory, organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in collaboration with the Arab League's Department of Culture and Civilizations Dialogue. The meeting, held in Cairo from October 25 to 27, involved the evaluation of over 60 heritage site applications from across the Arab world.
This initiative aims to document sites of significant historical, cultural, and architectural value to preserve the shared Arab civilizational memory and enhance the protection and exchange of expertise regarding regional architectural heritage.
