Morocco reports rising bank credit and real estate growth
Morocco's banking sector saw significant growth in the first half of 2026. According to data from Bank Al-Maghrib, outstanding bank credit reached 1,301.8 billion dirhams by the end of June, representing a 10.9% year-on-year increase. This growth was driven by a 15.2% rise in credits to financial agents and a 9.9% increase for non-financial agents. Within the private non-financial enterprise sector, bank loans grew by 8.2%, largely fueled by a 15.8% surge in equipment financing. Household credit rose more moderately at 3.4%, with consumer loans increasing by 4.6% compared to a 2.7% rise in housing loans.
In the real estate sector, Groupe Addoha reported 5,557 pre-sales during the first half of 2026, an 11% increase over the previous year. The company's secured turnover has reached approximately 12.1 billion dirhams, with the Moroccan market contributing 8.9 billion dirhams and West African subsidiaries accounting for 3.2 billion dirhams.
