Morocco revokes 1,490 cannabis licenses for noncompliance
Morocco’s National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities (ANRAC) has revoked 1,490 licenses within the country’s legal cannabis sector due to noncompliance with administrative and legal regulations. The withdrawn authorizations include nearly 1,300 licenses for growers and 190 for other supply chain operators, such as those involved in seed imports, processing, manufacturing, marketing, exports, and transportation.
This regulatory action occurs as the 2026 harvest progresses across Morocco’s three authorized provinces. Approximately 1,100 hectares of the local ‘beldia’ cannabis variety have been harvested, representing 60% of its total cultivated area. In the Taounate province, the harvest is 92% complete. While the harvest of local varieties is well underway, the harvesting of imported varieties is expected to continue through December 2026.
To support its push into European markets, the agency has secured international protection for the Moroccan cannabis product logo in Luxembourg and Portugal, with similar protections expected in Germany and Spain. This branding initiative aims to verify product origin and strengthen the credibility of Moroccan cannabis in the international medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors.
