Morocco secures World Bank climate loan and launches new financing strategy

Morocco has secured a €349.1 million loan from the World Bank’s International Bank for Reconstruction and Development to fund climate and risk financing initiatives. The agreement, ratified via Decree No. 2.26.639, is part of the nation’s 2026 Finance Law and is intended to bolster the country’s capacity to manage environmental challenges such as rising temperatures and unpredictable weather patterns.

In a separate development, the Moroccan public credit-guarantee institution TAMWILCOM has launched its ‘JOSSOUR 2030’ strategy. This initiative aims to mobilize approximately MAD 300 billion in financing between 2026 and 2030. The strategy includes a new co-financing program specifically targeting women entrepreneurs, Moroccans living abroad, and companies focused on green and sustainable projects. To increase accessibility, TAMWILCOM has begun a national ‘Tournée des Territoires’ to bring financing tools and banking partners directly to various regions across the country.
