Morocco's Festival of Sacred Music Unveils 29th Edition and Highlights Rabat Concert

The 29th edition of the Festival de Fès des Musiques Sacrées du Monde will take place in 2026 under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI. The theme, “Fès and the Mâalemines, Guardians of Gesture and Heritage,” celebrates the master‑artisans who have shaped the city’s cultural legacy. The event will feature more than 160 artists across 18 performances at four venues, and it recently received the Mercurio Alato award for cultural diplomacy.

On 18 July 2026, the Théâtre Mohammed V in Rabat will host a special concert that brings together maâlem Hamid El Kasri, a leading figure in gnawa music, and jazz drummer Karim Ziad. The performance will blend the deep tones of the guembri with contemporary jazz improvisation, showcasing a cross‑generational dialogue between traditional Moroccan music and modern world‑music influences.
