Morocco's Grand Stade Hassan II stadium to cost $500 million and target 2030 World Cup final
The Grand Stade Hassan II, being built on the outskirts of Casablanca between El Mansouria and Benslimane, will seat about 115,000 spectators. Designed by Oualalou + Choi and Populous, its roof draws inspiration from traditional Moroccan tents. The project, financed by the Moroccan government and the public‑sector bank Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, is slated for completion in 2028, two years before the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The $500 million arena is a centerpiece of Morocco’s $6 billion infrastructure programme ahead of the tournament, which the kingdom will co‑host with Spain and Portugal. In addition to hosting World Cup matches, the stadium will become the primary home of the Moroccan national team and is being promoted as a candidate venue for the tournament final, a development expected to boost the country’s tourism and global sporting profile.
