Morocco's Ministry of Interior begins consultations for 2027 elections
Morocco's Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, has launched formal consultations with political parties to prepare for the 2027 elections. These upcoming elections will involve renewing national, local, and professional elected institutions, including communal, provincial, and regional councils, as well as the House of Councilors and professional chambers.
Political parties with parliamentary groups have been requested to submit their proposals regarding the legal and organizational framework for the elections by November 15. The Ministry aims to use these suggestions to create a preliminary basis for legislative amendments. The discussions will focus on ensuring fair competition and enhancing public trust in the electoral process and representative institutions.
The Ministry indicated that it intends to adopt similar legislative measures used during the recent legislative elections for the House of Representatives, particularly those related to the ethical conduct of electoral operations.
