Morocco's National Highway Company reports profit decline

A report from the National Agency for the Strategic Management of State Holdings reveals a significant decline in the net profits of Morocco's National Highway Company (ADM) for 2024. Despite an 18.5% increase in turnover, which rose from 4.731 billion dirhams in 2023 to 5.605 billion dirhams in 2024, the company's net profit share dropped by approximately 44%, falling from 1.294 billion dirhams to 730 million dirhams.

The report, titled ‘The Contributing State 2024-2025’, attributes this discrepancy to a decrease in operating results and rising interest costs due to heavy debt. Operating results fell by 29.8%, from 2.433 billion dirhams to 1.708 billion dirhams.

Simultaneously, investment expenditures nearly doubled, increasing by 91.5% from 901 million dirhams in 2023 to 1.725 billion dirhams in 2024, as the company continues to expand its road network and infrastructure. The report also noted persistent traffic congestion on several major routes, particularly the Casablanca–Berrechid and Casablanca–Bouznika axes.
