Morocco's tourism surge showcased on Travellers Choice agents' northern tour
Morocco is projected to receive 20 million visitors in 2025, making it the fastest‑growing tourist destination in Africa. Eight Travellers Choice advisors undertook a six‑night Intrepid trip through the country's northern region to assess its tourism assets and recent infrastructure upgrades ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The itinerary began in Casablanca at the Hassan II Mosque, then continued on a high‑speed TGV to Tangier, on to the blue‑washed city of Chefchaouen, the Roman‑Berber ruins of Volubilis, and finally to Fes, where the agents explored the car‑free medina and the historic Chouara tannery. Participants praised the welcoming locals, safety, and the country's greener‑than‑expected landscapes.
The trip highlighted Morocco's expanding transport network and diversified tourism product as it prepares for its role as a World Cup co‑host.
