Morogoro hosts fourth National Culture Festival

The fourth National Culture Festival has commenced in Morogoro, featuring traditional dance competitions that showcase the diverse customs and arts of Tanzania. Ten regions—Mbeya, Mwanza, Morogoro, Pwani, Mtwara, Dodoma, Njombe, Arusha, Lindi, and Dar es Salaam—have successfully advanced to the top ten stage of the competition.

Morogoro Regional Commissioner Adam Malima officially opened the festival, which expects to draw approximately 150,000 participants. Malima urged Tanzanians to leverage the upcoming AFCON 2027 tournament, co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, as an opportunity to promote the country's unique tribal cultures as rare attractions. He emphasized the importance of respecting culture as a foundation for national identity.

Gerson Msigwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, noted that the festival has rotated through various regions, including Dar es Salaam, Songwe, and Ruvuma, before arriving in Morogoro this year. Msigwa also addressed rumors regarding the AFCON tournament, clarifying that false information suggesting the event had been moved away from Tanzania is untrue.
