Japan retailers launch seasonal autumn and moon-viewing sweets
Various Japanese retailers and food brands are launching seasonal offerings to celebrate the autumn season and the Mid-Autumn Festival (Otsukimi).
Seibu Ikebukuro is hosting an ‘Otsukimi Sweets’ event through September 25, featuring rabbit-themed cakes and traditional wagashi from various confectioners. Morozoff is also releasing limited-edition moon-themed desserts, including a Denmark cream cheese cake and custard pudding, available at locations nationwide.
In Otaru, Otaru Port Square’s Container Village will host ‘Tsukiyo no Container Yokocho’ from September 19 to 27, offering special moon-viewing menus. Meanwhile, Chun Shui Tang is running an ‘Autumn Tea Time Fair’ featuring Taiwanese sweets like matcha douhua and sweet potato drinks using Kagoshima Beni Haruka.
In Nagoya, Patisserie The Héren is participating in the ‘Baumkuchen Expo 2026’ at Matsuzakaya Nagoya, debuting a premium roasted sweet potato baumkuchen made with varieties from Yamanashi and Tokushima.
