Morpeth community supports chef after Nepal flash floods

Raj Kumar Bhatta, a chef at the Commercial Hotel in Morpeth, Australia, has lost his family following a devastating flash flood in northern Nepal. The flood, which occurred on August 26, struck the Tupche-7 ward in the Nuwakot district, inundating the village with mud, rock, and debris.

Mr. Bhatta traveled to Nepal to search for his family members. His employers and the local community in Morpeth have organized donation collections to support him during this tragedy. The management of the Commercial Hotel, including Holly Bidwell, noted that Mr. Bhatta has been absent from his post for several weeks as he dealt with the aftermath of the disaster.
