Morphotonics raises €40M to expand into data center optics

Morphotonics, a Netherlands-based deeptech company specializing in nanoimprint lithography, has secured €40 million in new funding from a consortium of institutional investors. The investment round includes participants such as 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries, BOM, Invest-NL, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, and the European Investment Bank.

The company plans to use the capital to scale manufacturing and expand into new markets, specifically targeting data center optics and semiconductor packaging. Morphotonics utilizes a roll-to-plate nanoimprint process to create microscopic structures on substrates, producing essential optical components like lenses, prisms, and waveguides. These components are critical for augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, such as Meta Ray-Ban, as well as industrial and automotive applications.

Operating out of Veldhoven, Morphotonics leverages expertise and supply chains similar to those used by ASML. Under the leadership of CEO Hugo da Silva, the company has seen significant revenue growth and has doubled its workforce from approximately 30 to 60 employees.
