Morrisons Foundation launches £1m community fund
The Morrisons Foundation has launched ‘Connecting Communities’, a £1 million fund aimed at helping local charities improve, maintain, and upgrade shared community spaces. The initiative provides grants of up to £20,000 to support capital improvements, such as purchasing new equipment, performing essential maintenance, or conducting refurbishments.
Targeted recipients include organizations that manage facilities for social connection and vital support, such as village halls, youth clubs, community centres, hospices, school PTAs, and warm hubs for the elderly. David Scott, chair of the Morrisons Foundation, noted that while thriving communities rely on shared spaces, funding to sustain them is often in short supply.
Since its inception in 2015, the Morrisons Foundation has donated nearly £50 million through community grants and employee fundraising matching, supporting various charities across England, Scotland, and Wales.
