Morrisons pilots multi-temperature grocery lockers in UK
Morrisons has launched a pilot for a new multi-temperature Click & Collect locker system at its Skipton store in North Yorkshire. The automated system, utilizing technology from StrongPoint, is designed to increase available collection slots and reduce wait times by allowing customers to collect orders without staff bringing items to their vehicles.
The lockers feature specialized compartments to maintain food safety: ambient goods are kept at 16°C, chilled items between 3°C and 5°C, and frozen products between -18°C and -20°C. Customers access their orders using a unique six-digit code. For orders containing age-restricted products, the locker remains secured until a staff member verifies the customer's identity.
The system also integrates VoCoVo communication technology, enabling shoppers to contact store colleagues via a help button. As part of the trial, Click & Collect operating hours at the Skipton location will be extended by two hours daily.
