Morro do Encano roadworks advance to relieve BR-101 traffic

Construction on the Morro do Encano road, which connects Itapema and Camboriú in Santa Catarina, has entered a new phase following rock detonations required to widen the track. The project aims to create a ‘escape route’ to alleviate heavy traffic congestion on the BR-101 highway, particularly during the summer season.

The work covers a stretch of nearly two kilometers and is expected to result in a roadway over 10 meters wide. Current activities in the Itapema sector include earthmoving, drainage, and sub-base execution. Future stages of the project will involve asphalt paving, vertical and horizontal signaling, and the addition of sidewalks, cycle paths, tourist viewpoints, and wildlife crossings.
