Morro dos Cavalos tunnel project receives ANTT authorization

The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) has authorized an update to the R$ 1.9 billion tunnel project at Morro dos Cavalos on the BR-101 highway in Palhoça, Santa Catarina. This move is intended to address chronic traffic congestion in the region.

However, the concessionaire Arteris Litoral Sul noted that the project is currently in a “protocol of intentions” stage. Discussions involve complex legal and contractual matters, including the potential return of the highway segment to the Federal Government. While the authorization is a significant step, the implementation of construction is expected to take considerable time.
