Mortal Kombat 2 tops HBO Max streaming charts in 56 countries

The sequel film *Mortal Kombat 2* launched on HBO Max and immediately claimed the number‑one spot among the platform’s most‑watched titles, ranking first in 56 countries. Its strong debut also lifted the original 2021 movie to the third‑most‑viewed position on the service. Critics gave the film a 65 % approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences awarded it a CinemaScore of B.

The cast features Karl Urban as Johnny Cage alongside returning performers such as Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada and newcomers Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the movie follows the champions of Earth teaming with Johnny Cage to stop Shao Kahn’s threat to the planet.
